After he recovered, the series returned to production
Chronology
A retired CIA agent is hunted by both the agency he once worked for and his own nightmares when an unknown man suddenly visits him after nearly three decades. Production was halted in March 2020 due to government restrictions. During that time, Jeff Bridges was diagnosed with and treated for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Bridges referred to the return as a “long weekend” return in a podcast in July 2022. This show starts off super strong with great action and a slow-paced backstory that keeps you very intrigued. Once you get hooked by episode 4, things don’t go so well.
Lithgow and Bridges are excellent
Shawcat is kind of the anchor of the boat, delivering every line in a near monotone. None of the characters are particularly endearing. As the plot development and action slow down after a few episodes, a lot of awkward dialogue takes its place.
Let alone a bad copy
It seems clear that the writers were trying to recreate the style of The Counselor, written by Cormac McCarthy, but they didn’t do a very good job. The more literary style of The Counselor left many viewers confused. I’ll keep watching, hoping things improve.
